Volunteer spotlight

"Habitat has become a habit, not a hobby."
-Joanne
Joanne spent 36 years with Du Pont Company before retiring in 2001 alongside her husband, Dwight.
Based in Lugoff with her 4 children, retirement opened the door to years of travel with friends and personal enrichment, including decorating and photography classes at Midlands Tech.
Beyond her home life, Joanne is deeply rooted in her community. She is a faithful member of Lugoff First Baptist Church and has served on the Board of Mid Carolina Credit Union for 20 years, holding the role of Board Secretary.
Since June 2008, she has volunteered over 300 hours every single year in support of Habitat's mission to build affordable homes and strengthen the community.
Her extraordinary dedication was recognized when the Habitat Board honored her with the Volunteer of the Year Award for 2023.
Volunteers like Joanne are the heart of Habitat's mission, but you can also make a difference by donating or shopping at the Habitat ReStore.
